Preston found that the best way to really comprehend the message
of a book and to keep up to date in a field was to obtain a copy of a
pertinent, recently published book and review it for a professional journal.
Here is a list of the books he reviewed. For product development and project
management titles, the reviews appeared in the Journal of Product
Innovation Management, the premier peer-reviewed journal in the product
development field, and for titles relating to management consulting practice,
they appeared in Consulting Management, the journal (at the time) of the
Institute of Management Consultants.
In some cases, we provide the final PDF version of the review.
In others, the publisher prohibits this so that they can sell the PDF (often at
higher prices than the book itself!). In this case, the final submitted version
appears here as HTML, and you can purchase the "definitive version" from the
link provided for the review's publisher.
